Sawsan Badr Will No Longer Participate in Gouna Film Festival

The Egyptian actress Sawsan Badr pulled out of El Gouna Fil Festival after two weeks of her announcement as one of the jury members.

The actress took it to Instagram and announced that unfortunately she will not take part of the festival because of an injury, her announcement comes two weeks after her appointment as one of the jury members.

“Due to a very critical surgery in the knee joint and based on the doctors’ reports who advised me to rest, I am very sorry to announce that I will no longer be participating as a member of El Gouna Film Festival’s judging panel for this year’s edition. I would like to thank the festival and the organizers and wish them all the best,” she wrote on Instagram.

Asmaa Abul-Yazeid Won Best Actress In Elia Short Film Festival

The Egyptian beauty Asmaa Abul-Yazeid won best actress award for her role in the movie ‘Ma Te3lash 3an el Hageb‘ in Elia Short Film Festival.

 

The movie is written by Haitham Dabour and directed by Tamer El-Ashry, which marks the second collaboration between them both after the success of their recent film ‘Photocopy.’

The movie stars Asmaa Abul-Yazid alongside Mariam EL-Khosht, a strong duo that certainly fits the category of best actresses.

Elia short films festival is an annual film festival which is entirely organized by an independent Palestinian initiative entitled “We have a Cinema”, in partnership with the local cultural and community organizations in Jerusalem.

‘The festival presents a cinematic experience filled with the highlight of and the newest Palestinian, Arabic, and International films. That tells stories of humanitarian cases increasing the public’s awareness socially and culturally.’

Ahmed Malek to Star in the Australian Movie ‘The Furnace’ Alongside David Wenham

The rising star Ahmed Malek is set to star in the Australian movie ‘The Furnace’ alongside veteran actor David Wenham. 

The adventure drama is directed by Roderick MacKay, with production by Timothy White, the plot takes place in the nineties of Western Australia.

 

The movie will take us back to the gold rush of 1890s in Western Australia, it is an unusual hero’s tale who is navigating greed and in search for identity in a new foreign land. It also highlights the neglected history of Australia’s ‘Ghan’ cameleers, predominantly Muslim and Sikh men from India, Afghanistan and Persia, who navigated through the country’s desert and created a bond with the local Aboriginal people.

Malek, who was named among the Rising Stars at Toronto Film Festival in 2018, will play the role of a camel driver who teams up with Wenham, a bushman and together they try to outsmart zealous troopers.
