Egyptian Football Association (EFA) finally announced yesterday that Al-Ahly’s former head coach Hossam El Badry will be the new manager for our National Team.

The decision finally concluded a long saga following weeks of debates regarding the new coach of Egypt, the decision may  come as a surprise to many who expected that Ihab Galal was the favorite to take on the job.

“During our meeting on 18 September, we decided to appoint Hossam El-Badry as head coach for the national team and to choose his staff to be presented to the board,” a statement from the EFA read.

In order to make such a hard decision of choosing the National team’s next coach, EFA appointed a committee of five members, after the EFA sacked Mexican manager, Javier Aguirre, following the team’s elimination from 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

El Badry’s first match in charge is most likely going to be Egypt’s opening Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier against Kenya on November 11th.

“The participation of 32 teams instead of 24 for the first time in the 2021 world handball championship is a clear challenge,” Sobhy stated.

He also said that this shall prove Egypt’s capability of organizing and hosting international championships and events, after hopefully the tournament concluded successfully.
