What’s up Cairo Guide to Survive The Holidays

It’s a long weekend and people are either traveling or stuck in Cairo. Whether you’re celebrating Easter or Sham Elneseem or neither, here is your true guide for a peaceful pleasant holiday:

Note for self when traveling: Admit the Truth and don’t complain

Unless you’re staying at a private property, don’t expect good service. It’s crowded everywhere in hotels, restaurants, at the beach: deal with it. Prepare your escape kit i.e. headphones, beverages, and light snacks.

Play it smart

Bear in mind that you’re likely to get stuck in traffic jams on high ways. Make sure to have some good music and enough snacks on board. A smart solution is to travel very early in the morning. Always be cautious on high ways.

Or, enjoy Empty Cairo

Some make smart decisions to stay and enjoy empty Cairo during holidays. Don’t be fooled by this platonic idea. Cairo is partially empty. If you ever think of going to public parks on Sham ELneseem day, then you’ll probably join another couple of millions there. Do some search; other destinations on the outskirts of the city might be ok.

Look at things from a different perspective

Think smart. Your balcony or the roof your building can be quite a good escape in Sham ELneseem. Put some effort on decorations to get the festive atmosphere. Invite family and friends to get the party starting.

Make it real fun.

Google ideas and plan some fun activities for your gathering. A lot of eating will take place these days, why not add more fun to it? Arrange a cooking/ food styling competition. Ask men to compete and women get to set and cheer. Make it more challenging and ask children (if there any) to be the judges.

Surviving Feseekh

Rememeber the symbolic idea behind feseekh; whatever that is, it doesn’t mean you have to eat it all. You’re not going to starve after this day, so take it easy with salted fish.

If you don’t like Feseekh don’t judge others who do. Your ancestors have been eating this thing for the last 7000 years. Show some appreciation please. To survive the smell, you can always use a mask or the traditional Laundry Clamp.

Lemons and onions

Lemons, lemons, lots of lemons. Lemons and limes kill germs, bacteria, and add a good taste to your meal. You definitely need a lot of it. It also help defeating strong odor.

Fresh green onions play a leading role in Sham ELnessm. It alters the taste and good for your whole immune system. But not necessarily to your love life. Especially if you’re at the beginning of a thing don’t get too intimate when onion is around.

Final advice

With Feseekh, renga, meloha, eggs, onions all around these colorful days, always stay in open areas. Open windows and doors; it’s probably contaminated inside.

Cairo Festival City Hosts “Wings for Life” Marathon for the First Time in Egypt

Cairo – May 8, 2022: Cairo Festival City (CFC), an affiliate of Egypt’s leading real estate developer Al Futtaim Group Real Estate (AFGRE), hosted the “Wings for Life” marathon, which is taking place for the first time in Egypt. Taking place in cooperation with Red Bull, Ignite Egypt and Allianz Egypt, the event aims to support research to find a cure for spinal cord injury, one of the world’s most severe injuries and the most expensive to cure.

“Wings for Life” world run is a global running movement that was inaugurated in 2014 by the Wings for Life not-for-profit spinal cord research foundation. Supported by Red Bull, the marathon annually takes place all over the world simultaneously during the first week of May, with the participation of professional athletes, runners, and wheelchair participants from across the world. The global movement aims to collect funds to support cutting-edge research to find a cure for spinal cord injury and raise awareness about the risks of spinal cord injury.

Cairo Festival City is committed to host several events and marathons to raise awareness on different diseases and collect funds to support finding a cure for them. These events include the “Run for a Heart” marathon that aimed to raise funds for child’s heart diseases, and “Run for a Cure” marathon that aimed to raise awareness among women about early detection of cancer and supported efforts toward treatment.
