Tutankhamun Opera to Debut During The Opening Ceremony of the GEM

Acclaimed Egyptologist Zahi Hawass has given a lecture in Nessour Cultural salon, during which he made a few announcements regarding the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM.) 

First thing he said was that the GEM is truly the most important archaeological project of the 21st century, he then revealed that the script for Tutankhamun Opera has been finished and will debut during the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum in late 2020.

He further announced that one of the most significant scenes in the Opera will revolve around Nefertiti’s attempt to kill Tutankhamun and snatch the throne from him to give for one of her six daughters.

The opera is composed by Zamboni and shall be completed this December.

Hawass also added that the 4th of November will mark the centenary of the discovery of Tutankhamun tomb, and the DNA tests will let the world in on several information regarding his death and will reveal to the entire world how the young king dies.

We can’t wait for this remarkable work of art to open and to witness it change tourism in Egypt for the better good!

Weekly Flights To Be Operated Between Hurghada and Budapest on Saturdays

EgyptAir will start operating weekly flights on Saturdays between Hurghada and Hungary’s capital of Budapest, starting next week in light of Egypt’s efforts in promoting tourism to the country.

According to an official statement by the national carrier on Tuesday, the flight will be operated by the airline’s Airbus A220-300, which is capable of accommodating 140 passengers.

Two weekly fights between Cairo and Budapest are already being operated on Fridays and Tuesdays.

Egypt wishes that with the resumption of regular flights soon, the tourism sector can be boosted amid the pandemic.

15 sarcophagi Displayed For the 1st Time in Egyptian Museum in Tahrir

The Egyptian Museum in Tahrir now has a new display scenario that displays 15 coffins for the very first time, the hall saw a great turnout of visitor who came to see the royal mummies placed in the new hall.

Archaeologist Sabah Abdel Razek, director general of the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, stated that the new hall displays a total number of 50 ancient sarcophagi.

15 of these coffins are being displayed for the very first time! The entrance ticket cover visiting the hall and you don’t need to pay an extra charge.

Get Ready For the Largest Archeological Discovery to Be Announced Soon!

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is keeping us on our toes as it announced its preparations for the announcement of the largest archaeological discovery in the area of Saqqara, in a press conference that shall be held in the upcoming days!

What is it and what do we know far? Not much, but we sure are so excited to learn more soon and here’s what we know so far!

Egypt to announce discovery of 100 more coffins in Saqqara - EgyptToday

According to sources from Egypt Today, 100 coffins have been discovered and they are all in good condition! This follows the excavations of the 59 coffins that were discovered earlier.

These coffins were discovered inside new burial shafts that have been closed for over 2500 years, also found were some wooden statues, colored and gilded masks, also in a good condition.

“Today we announce the biggest archaeological discovery in 2020, in the presence of foreign ambassadors from more than 43 countries and 200 media representatives to introduce to the whole world a new part of our great civilization,” Enany previously said.

We can’t wait for the press conference and are eager to learn all about this incredible discovery!
