It’s the 12th of March, and I’m out with my mother. I want to buy her a mother’s day gift, I ask her to try on this new pair of shoes that I know it perfectly well suits her style. But she chooses another, one that matches my style and not hers, because she wants me to wear it with her.
We go to a silver store, I want to exchange a necklace I got earlier. I fall for this ring, which 10 minutes later, I find her paying for it. It’s almost mother’s day, and she is the one buying me a gift.
She hands me the bag, kisses my forehead, and my eyes start to tear up. It’s a ring, a very simple silver one. I’m clearly not crying because of it, I’m tearing up for the meaning behind it.
I have always believed that there are no selfless deeds, we do a good deed, and expect to feel good about ourselves. We make a nice gesture, and wait for the other person to show appreciation. But my mother, my mother refuted this theory of mine. Selfless deeds do exist, because every day, she makes one.
I never knew what to get my mother, because nothing satisfies her more than seeing us, her children, happy. That’s why, this mother’s day, I’m buying my brother a gift, with her name on the gift tag.
So to the woman who raised me to be selfless, to put other people’s needs ahead of mine. Thank you. And to the women who were more than just mothers, who took on the role of a father, a sister and a friend. Who worked day after day and came home to continue working. You are fierce, and you’re beautifully strong. I honestly don’t know how you do it, but thank you.
In this month, I wonder, how will it feel to be a mother one day? How will I ever be half as good as my mother is? I love to think of the change that shall occur in my personality, when I acquire that motherly instinct; that will turn me into a superhero, multitasking and doing wonders.
I think of it, and I can’t wait. Because maybe I’ll never be able to pay back my own mother, but I surely will pay her back by raising my kids the same way she raised me. Strong, selfless and kind.
Mohamed Mamdouh Apologizes to the People Criticizing Him
It looks like being a successful actor, who was capable of proving himself in the plenty of roles that he played, isn’t enough to get people off his back.
Mohamed Mamdouh has been proving himself each year as a competent actor, and this year was no different. However, people have been criticizing the actor for his short breath and pronunciation. Which was brought up in an interview with Al Arabya, to which his answer to this was a genuine apology.
But why should he be sorry? Such a flaw doesn’t make him any less of a good actor, and this flaw was even unnoticed by countless of his fans, who have been defending him since yesterday.
This brings us to an issue that not only celebrities face, but we do too, and that is bullying. It may not seem this way to some, because their claim could be that it’s merely their opinion, something the actor should work on. But it is a verbal bullying, and everyday we encounter the same thing.
What is merely your opinion, might affect the person’s self esteem and make them doubt themselves and their capabilities. Your comment about someone’s hair, body, or even their outfit, is one you should always keep to yourself. Because most of the time, people already know about their flaw, they just don’t like it when it’s pointed out to them.
Mohamed Mamdoud has been killing it in this year’s series ‘Qabeel‘, his portrayal of a person who’s severely manipulated by his mental illness is quite impressive. Not only that, but the way he’s mourning for his long gone wife, is giving us all the feels.
So why after giving a killer performance, should he be faced with such a criticism?
GOT Fans Start a Petition Demanding a Full Remake of Season 8
If you haven’t yet watched the latest episode of GOT then don’t through with this article, because spoilers lie ahead!
Even though episode 5 aired days ago, people still don’t seem to get over what happened during this horrific episode. They surely can’t accept that the breaker of chains turned mad, and ruined everything for us.
Now, people are taking their anger to a whole new level, where a new Change.org petition is circulating from a Night King–loving fan named Dylan D, asking HBO to remake the ENTIRE season ‘with competent writers’ instead of Thrones Showrunners, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss.
“David Benioff and D. B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e., the books) to fall back on,” Dylan’s call to action reads. “This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!”
The petition has been up for less than a week now and it’s already gotten almost 278,135 signatures from equally annoyed fans!
Here the link for the petition, for all the angry fans out there who are demanding the same!
Bassem Youssef Pushing People into Leading a Healthy Lifestyle
Bassem Youssef is certainly one of the most influential public figures in the Arab World, his content has always stood out among others, and is found to be useful and encouraging.
We’re used to his shows being entertaining and critical, and we definitely get influenced by his views and well respected opinions. But when it comes to following a certain diet of his, are we really prone to following his steps? Even if it means, becoming a vegan?
For this Ramadan, Bassem Youssef has introduced a new web-series, called Plant B. It is a new show that hopes to improve the current health crisis, which is global by the way, and not just in Egypt.
The surgeon is providing viewers with information from the world’s most respected doctors and researchers, who were capable of changing their lives by following a Plant-Based Diet.
What is Plant Based Diet, you ask? Plant-based eating patterns focuses mainly on foods primarily from plants. This includes not only fruits and vegetables, but also nuts, seeds, oils, whole grains, legumes, and beans.
It doesn’t necessarily mean that you are vegetarian or vegan and shouldn’t eat meat or dairy. Rather, you are proportionately choosing more of your foods from plant sources.
There are several ways to get you started into following this diet, for instance you can start by changing the amount of meat you consume, you can start cooking a vegetarian meal every once in a while, and substitute chocolate with fruits for desserts.
There are countless ways -ones you can google-, but they won’t be as helpful as hearing it from someone as influential as Bassem Youssef!
It is fair to say that our eating habits are disastrous, and we are nowadays more likely to consume genetically modified foods, and meals that are high in fats. So having such an influential show, can help you get started on leading that healthy lifestyle that you seek.
