Awards season is the time when we enjoy the daring and glamorous styles of celebrities, but nothing really tops the Met Gala, when it comes to making a fashion statement.
Models, singers, actors and celebrities come to NYC for this astounding fashion bash that is held every spring. The Gala is a fashion lover’s dream, and every year, guests plan their couture gowns based on the unique theme of the exhibition.
The Met Gala isn’t only about making fashion statements and throwing a killer party, but to top that, fundraising is a plus! The entry to the gala comes at a hefty price, and is the main source for funding the Costume Institute’s exhibitions, acquisitions and capital improvements.
This year’s Gala took place yesterday with the theme of “Camp: Notes on Fashion“, and here are the must-see looks of the event!
1- Lady Gaga
Talk about making an entrance! Who else would turn heads, if not the queen of daring and fun fashion. And because one outfit is clearly not enough, Lady Gaga wore four different looks, each one making a bold statement!
2- The Kardashians
While both Kourtney and Khloe were noticeably absent from the event, Kim, Kris, Kylie and Kendall all walked the pink carpet of New York’s Metropolitan Museum in their most dashing ensembles.
Kim Kardashian wore a Manfred Thierry Mugler dress – the designer’s first creation for the brand in 20 years.
“Getting out of the Pacific straight to the #MetGalared carpet to shine like the brightest star! Iconic “Wet Look” is #BeyondCouture!” the designer wrote on his Instagram.
As for Kylie and Kendall Jenner, they both rocked their Versace gowns!
3- Celine Dion
Dion wore a gown inspired from the glitzy costumes of the Ziegfeld Follies. which is constructed from 18 panels, hand-beaded by 52 master embroiderers over a total of 3,000 hours and weighs over 22 pounds!
4- Ciara
While her green embellished gown stood out, what actually turned heads at the Gala was her disco-era hair!
5- Emily Ratajkowski
Definitely one of the best and daring looks, the model wore a bold interpretation of a Bob Mackie dress, with a stunning winged headpiece.
6- Saoirse Ronan
Another outstanding look by Gucci, the brand that was a sponsor the event, the fire-breathing dress certainly caught the eyes of many at the Gala.
