Salah catches Carthage Eagles, snatches late victory for Egypt

Egypt achieved a thrilling victory over Tunisia 3-2 in the 2019 African Nations Cup qualifier.

The Pharaohs shined against Tunisia presenting amazing performance, especially in the second half, crowned by Salah’s last minute goal which gave Egypt an important three points sharing the group leadership alongside Tunisia with 12 points.

Egypt’s three goals were through the winger, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, Baher el-Mohammady and Mohamed Salah. While Tunisia appeared in the game through Naim el-Seliti’s brace.

Naim el-Seliti took the lead for Tunisia in the 13th minute before Trezeguet equalizes the score for Egypt in the 32nd minute. Baher el-Mohammady doubled the score in the 60th minute through a brilliant header.

El-Seliti scored Tunisia’s second goal in the 72nd minute before Salah’s last minute goal came in an amazing way.

The Pharaohs deserved to win after a strong performance and offensive game led by the Mexican coach, Javier Aguirre, and only individual mistakes gave Tunisia their two goals.

The two teams met at Borg el-Arab stadium and their first match at Rades Stadium ended by a 1-0 victory for Tunisia through Taha Yassin Khneisi in June 2017.

The match was a good opportunity to push a number of new players who have joined the team during the current camp, or who have not had a chance in previous matches like the midfielder, Mohamed Mahmoud, and the striker, Taher Mohamed.

Aguirre continued his amazing run with the national team as he achieved four victories in four official games since he was appointed national team manager following Egypt’s world Cup early exit.

Egypt and Tunisia secured qualification for the tournament since the last round after Egypt achieved an away 2-0 victory over eSwatini, while Tunisia defeated Niger 2-1 in Niamey.

Egypt Wins the Double at this Year’s FIBA 3×3 Africa Cup

Egypt’s both men’s and women’s basketball teams have won the FIBA 3×3 Africa Cup that was held in Kampala, whereas the men’s team beat DR Congo and the women’s team won over Mali.

The Pharaohs claimed their very first gold medal after beating DR Congo 21-12 in the final, while the women’s team made their victory by defeating Mali 18-15.

Also worth mentioning is that Soraya Mohamed, Egypt’s top player in the women’s team, has claimed the title MVP of the tournament for her remarkable performance.

Egypt’s win marks the first of its kind in the FIBA 3×3 Africa Cup, and by defeating Mali, They have denied them from claiming their third victory in a row.

Congratulations to both our teams! They have indeed made us proud.

Mo Salah Nominated For Globe Soccer Award’s Best Player of The Year

Liverpool and Egypt’s star Mohamed Salah has been nominated for the Globe Soccer Award for the 2019 Best Men’s Player of the Year, after an impressive year for him with the Reds.

Salah’s incredible year with the Reds witnessed him winning the UEFA Champions League title back in June and a very close win of the Premier League.

This year’s list of nominees include Sadio Mane, Cristiano Ronaldo, Alisson Becker, Virgil van Dijk, Bernardo Silva, and Lionel Messi, making the competition a fierce one.

The awards ceremony will be held on December 29th in Dubai with the partnership of the Dubai International Sports Conference 14 and the organization of the Dubai Sports Council.

Salah is no stranger to the Globe Soccer Awards, seeing that he won Best Arab player award in 2016, beating Riyad Mahrez, Islam Slimani, and Mehdi Benatia.
