DAWLY’S MESSAGE STIRS UP THE UNDERGROUND INTO AN AVALANCHE

A BLIZZARD TAKES OVER EGYPT WITH THE RISING TIDE OF THE UNDERGROUND! El Waili and Moscow drop a visually surreal piece dedicated to the creative forces that have shaped and given rise to Egypt’s dominant rap and trap scene. Already climbing to the top 5 on YouTube’s trending music as well as worldwide, the music video has shaken the scene with its unique visual creativity in terms of production, stunning incorporation of CGI and symbolism on all levels. A bone chilling track and music video, encapsulating Cairo in Moscow’s sub-zero bars, it boasts a diverse, energetic and upbeat audio production by El Waili, while the visual component complimented the music video’s production and artistic direction.
Stopping everyone in their tracks was the music video’s final shot over Cairo’s buildings presenting a powerful message from the creators of the clip choosing not to write the names of those involved in the creation of this piece, but instead dedicating it as symbolic tribute to the independent directors and talented individuals behind Egypt’s booming rap and trap scene. This struck a chord with the directors in the scene, causing a wave of shares and reposting in support of the piece, transforming overnight into a trend amongst the community.
The track being leaked had a profound effect on El Waili, wondering whether to release the song in full force, he was torn and considered it as “a personal war, with my ego not allowing me to release the track just because it got leaked”. Instead of allowing that voice to win, he listened to the encouraging

and energetic voices of those around him. Turning the track leak around in their favor, they transformed the music video into an anonymous message of support and solidarity to the struggling and rising talent in the scene, with the creators going down as saying “ultimately, no effort ever goes to waste”. This still leaves many wondering whether there will be an official reveal of the talent behind Dawly. One thing that’s known for certain is the dominant position that Egypt’s rap and trap scene holds in the region, that’s been painstakingly built up, mirrors the pyramids as a symbol of prestige and awe-inspiring power, that owes its creation to the talented minds that began in the underground music scene, both those who’ve been praised and that still remain anonymous.
