We have been invited to “La Veranda” at Concorde El Salam Cairo Hotel and our experience was super amazing. La Veranda is located at the terrace of the hotel with a wide variety of cuisines. You can sit in the open air, enjoy the atmosphere, served by professional staff, eating the best food, while witnessing the live show and band.
We were impressed and astonished by the variety of food and although we were five persons with different tastes but we shared together one table and everyone ordered from different restaurants. Yes yes you don’t have to split your seats if you want to eat italian and your partner wants to eat sushi; you can sit together and your order will come to you from different cuisines. We ate sushi, sea food pasta, mushroom beef, mix grill, fish, feteer and burger. La Veranda is a mix of international cuisines in one place, they have everything from sushi to egyptian feteer.
Can this get any better? Yes, actually, it can! Every possible Shisha flavor is available and they’re terrific.
Let’s speak a little about the creamy sea food pasta that we couldn’t love more, we loved it more than words could express because seriously, food is food and it’s only felt by the tummy no amount of words could describe how much the pasta filled our needs! Fresh ingredients and tasty!
Who seriously doesn’t like sushi these days? We loved every piece of sushi we ate that filled our stomachs with laughter and happiness!
The mushroom beef gave us the reason to love food even more! The ingredients couldn’t be better and the well done beef was amazing!
Sugar on top Feteer is the best kind of dessert anyone would ever want! We were craving the delicious Feteer filling our happy meter level!
Also, the amount of friendly staff couldn’t get any warmer, it really felt like home; sweet and comfortable!
All of that while witnessing a band who sings our favorite mix of latest hits then a show of dancers to keep us entertained.
So, we guess you had enough about the astonishing La Veranda so we think you should just go and check the place out! Promise, you won’t regret and you’ll even have your happy meter filled automatically just by sitting in the picturesque and intoxicating view!
Top Reviewed Places For Iftar This Ramadan
No one really likes taking risks, especially when it comes to food, and especially when it’s Ramadan. That’s why choosing wisely the right place for Iftar means absolutely everything.
And let’s be honest, if you are giving up on a fulfilling home cooked meal for a pricey one, you have got to do it right.
The following suggested list for places to have Iftar in, are bloggers’ recommendation based on their real experiences and professional taste buds, so enjoy!
I think this was the most recommended places of all, it was mentioned severally by a number of foodies. Reviews praise their variety of items, and how most of them are perfect which rarely happens in open buffets.
Recommendations for appetizers were to try their Vine leaves, Fattoush, makdous and Manakesh, as for the main dishes, it was recommended to try the Kofteh with tahini or the grills (kebab and shish), both were really good.
Their desserts buffet included nabulsya, halawet jebn , Om Ali and a variety of eastern desserts, fresh fruits.
One blogger didn’t recommend going on weekends though.
Their newest branch in the extension of Mall of Arabia ‘The Park’ is the most ideal one, because the Park itself sets a lovely mood. The place offers an open buffet of salads and soups. But make sure you be there before time, as it gets devoured in no time.
Their shrimp konafa is a must try, and also their newest addition, the melted cheesy Aubergine gratin!
Great value of money because of their variety in food, they also have a selection of seafood. The place is a perfect combination between a cozy cafe and a great restaurant.
They are upping the cheese experience this Ramadan, so if you are a lover of cheese, pasta and yummy food, then they are the place for you. Especially if you’re looking to change the usual menu for Iftar.
The place also makes killer Sohor, not for the light-hearted though.
Also at the Park in Mall of Arabia, Villa Caracas is an ideal go-to restaurant, especially if it’s a family gathering. The place itself is heavenly, which sets the perfect mood for Iftar. The place has always been known for their delightful Lebanese experience, and well you know, if it’s not an Egyptian culinary that you are going for, then Lebanese it is!
May Yacoubi: Cooking up the perfect bond with her daughter
Mother’s day is approaching, it’s a day to reflect on all the wonderful things that our mothers have done for us, and better yet, it is a time to show appreciation for them by giving back a fair amount of gratitude and love. So seeing that this is the month for all women, we are shedding the light on several working moms who are doing their best to keep up between both their jobs and homes.
Our first interview is with Chef May Yacoubi and her daughter Leen, this time we did things a bit different, and it was more of a competition than it was of an interview.
We sat down with both the mother and daughter, asked them questions about each other that tested how much they truly know one another. The results are obvious but it was definitely a fun way to get to know them.
The first question is their favourite meal, which they both got right. Leen’s favorite is anything with teriyaki sauce in it, while May’s favorite is Asian food, African and basically all food.
Who wouldn’t want to have a superpower? Well, basically everyone especially moms, and Leen believes that her mom’s superpower is cooking and baking. While May tells us that if Leen got to choose a superpower, she would choose to help animals and clean the ocean. An extra point goes to Leen for being such an environmentalist, and a point goes to May for raising such a helpful, inspiring daughter.
The point was shortly taken from May for wrong guessing Leen’s favorite color, but well, seeing how the girl is all about the environment, we would have also guessed it’s green.
On the other hand, Leen’s answer was just heartwarming, ‘Her favorite color is green, especially because it brings out her eyes.’
The one thing they both agreed that they have in common is their love for cooking, baking and how picky they are when it comes to food.
May also shared with us her feeling when she found out she’s pregnant, she says as her first child, she was happy and then she got scared a bit, but shortly after, that feeling turned into excitement and she started counting down the days.
Her husband shared the exact same feeling, ‘you’re never really ready to be a mom or a dad.” She added.
Their choice for the name has the cutest story behind it, May told us that she had her mind set on the name Leen since she was ten, and when she first met her husband and told him this, he shared with her that on a trip to Syria, he met this lovely little girl named Leen, and he, as well, had his mind set on this name ever since.
When asked how she balance between her career and being a good mom, she told us that you always try your best to be a good mom, and that she delayed the launch of her business until her younger son turned one year.
As for the thing that they enjoy doing together the most is cooking, and May told us that the first thing they have cooked together was pizza, which they later cooked for us.
May’s last advice was for moms to never forget to spend quality time with their kids, because sometimes they may get busy raising them, that they would neglect spending this quality time together. What she did was find a common hobby, and now Leen has obtained such a knowledge about cooking and food; seeing how she was practically raised in a kitchen.
“Happy Mother’s day, month, year, every day is a mother’s day.”
