6 Ways to Help You Deal With Your Anxiety

We are all familiar with anxiety and worry but the level of uneasiness vary from one person to another, some may have their heart beating faster than the usual in response to a stressful situation while others may find trouble breathing when they’re confronted with an overwhelming responsibility.

Anxiety affects you in many ways, it can affect your level of performance in work and can sometimes even affect your relationships with friends and family. So how to deal with these thoughts inside your head? How to cope with anxiety and find easiness? Below are ways for you to help you cope with anxiety.

Stop and Breathe

Whenever you start getting feelings of worry and uneasiness, when you start hearing unwanted voices inside your head, just stop and breathe. Keep reminding yourself that they exist only in your head and that you’re probably overreacting, regain control over your mind by sitting down and taking a few deep breaths.

Practice Yoga

Use yoga poses to help calm down your anxiety and help you find your center because focusing on your body instead of your mind can help relieve your anxiety.

Identify and learn to manage your triggers

It’s important to know what are the things that trigger your anxiety in order to stay away from them, so the first step you should do is identify them and then try and manage them.

Once you figure that out those triggers, try and limit your exposure to them if you can, or find coping techniques to help you deal with these triggers.

Change your diet

Research shows that following a better diet can help reduce anxiety and is certainly a long-term strategy.

Your diet should include:

  • lemon balm
  • omega-3 fatty acids
  • ashwagandha
  • green tea
  • valerian root
  • kava kava
  • dark chocolate

Listen to music

Listening to your favorite tunes can help calm your nerves, or enjoying any of your hobbies. You can cruise with your car with no destination in mind and just listen to your favorite calming music.

Focus on what you can change

Some of the triggers you can’t control such as family issues or financial problems, but there are other triggers that you can control. Find those you can take control of and try to change them. Even if that means quitting your job or cutting off toxic people, remember that your mental health and well being come first.

7 Ways to Maintain Your Social Life Despite How Busy Life Gets

As we grow up, our lives get busier by the day and between maintaining your full-time job, spending time with the family and getting enough sleep, you lose other valuable things and people in between. You lose the time to do the things you used to love, you lose the time for a hobby and in time, you start distancing yourself from the people who are closest to you.

But it’s never really your fault, you’re already juggling between things as much as possible. So what to do when your job is taking too much of your time? How to balance between your social life and career? Here are some tips to help you get the answer.

Schedule lunch breaks and coffee dates

Your day may be packed but you gotta eat at some point, am I right? So, if you are a person with fixed lunch breaks, then turn those lunch breaks to a small get together with a friend. Even if it is only an hour in midday, this will help you more than you think and you will probably get back to work feeling more energized.

That way you can keep your normal routine to some extent and still be able to catch up with those who matter most to you.

Plan an evening out at least once a week

I personally know how hard it is to hang out after work, you are always tired and eager to get some rest. But at least one day a week, plan an outing with your group of besties. Even if it is just for coffee or a breakfast, spending time with close people outside of the office is very important.

Switching up your routine will keep things fresh and exciting, so whether it’s over the weekend or after work, you must go out every now and then.

Prioritize your time

Create a to-do-list of all the tasks in hand, and start prioritizing them so that you can know which task can be done at a later time and replaced by some time for yourself or for your hobby.

You can prioritize them as follows:

  • Urgent and important
  • Important but not urgent
  • Urgent but not important
  • Neither urgent nor important.

Schedule phone calls

It sound ridiculous at the moment, right? But when was the last time you gave an old friend a call? When was the last time you caught up with your friend who now lives abroad? If the answer is that you don’t remember, then it’s not that ridiculous after all. Plan when and who you will call midday and whenever you’re free, even if it’s only for 10 mins, give that friend a quick call.

Enjoy some ‘You’ time

Maintaining a social life includes you as well! It is extremely important to take a night for yourself and do the things you enjoy, even if it means just laying back and not doing a thing.

Catch up on a series, read a book, take yourself out on a date or exercise! The important thing is to give yourself a break from all the hassle and find peace and quiet.

Exercise and meditate

Exercise is a very effective way to reduce stress as it pumps feel-good endorphins through your body and helps lift your mood. I know how busy one can gets, but even if there’s absolutely no time to hit the gym, you can at least go for a 30 minute walk even if it’s just once a week.

Limit time-wasting activities and people

If someone or something no longer add value to you, limit it or cut if off of your life. You no longer have the luxury of wasting your time on invaluable things and toxic people, so identify what’s most important in your life and then draw boundaries so that you can devote quality time to these high-priority people and activities.

Majid Al Futtaim to Eliminate Single-use Plastics From All Its operations By 2025

Retail giant Majid Al Futtaim has announced its pledge to phase out single-use plastics from all its operations across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, by the year 2025.

In light of their commitment to the environment, Majid Al Futtaim has announced that it’s going green by phasing out plastic bags from all 300 Carrefour stores that they nearly have. Not only that, but they also pledged to end the use of plastic straws in the food court and the unnecessary plastic bags sold at cinemas.

“Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do…because we understand the impact that climate change is having on our world,” says Ibrahim Al-Zu’bi, chief sustainability officer of Majid Al Futtaim. “The launch of our single-use plastic policy will help shift the needle by tackling one of the most pressing environmental challenges for our business and region.”

“No one country, company or individual alone can solve the crippling impact that plastic is having on our world,” added Hani Weiss, Chief Executive Officer at Majid Al Futtaim. “At MAF, we are committed to playing our part in positively impacting the environment, while trying to influence others to make similar commitments. Reducing our dependence on single-use plastic is only the start; we hope to create a movement amongst the partners, suppliers and customers we engage with every day to ensure collective action.”

Yesterday a group of well-known Egyptian environmentalists were invited for a tour that showcased a number of sustainable solutions that Majid Al Futtaim has already applied, including refillable detergent bottles, reverse vending machine that takes plastic bottles and different reusable bags and plastic alternatives.

Today with the UAE minister of Climate Change and Enviroment Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi at Carrefour Mall of the Emirates. We were given a tour showcasing some of the sustainable solutions they have already applied like refillable detergent bottles, reverse vending machine that takes plastic bottles and different reusable bags and plastic alternatives. I have to say I am really looking forward to seeing more of @majidalfuttaim 's vision being applied especially in Egypt. After meeting with their team, whether the Cairo or Dubai offices, hearing how passionately they talk about this change, after listening to their Chief Sustainability Officer; Mr Ibrahim Al Zu'bi, speak from the heart. This aint just a big company talking, this is the kind of change and commitment I didnt think existed from companies of that size!
