The year 2020 had a lot of events and important competitions in store for us all. For instance, the Olympics that were supposed to be played in Tokyo ended up being postponed until next year. This left a lot of athletes upset and angry at the world.
Now, football has always been one of the main sports that people enjoying following and keeping up with the news, which is why we were all shocked when crucial championships and leagues were postponed and cancelled as well.
The Italian Football Federation claimed on Friday that club matches should start again towards the end of May or the beginning of June. This had been taken under serious speculation and discussion before formulating this kind of decision.
Gabriele Gravina, the president of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), stated that it would take roughly around three weeks to prepare for the coronavirus lockdown that has strictly been going over there in Italy. It is currently scheduled that the quarantine and curfew will end on May 4th.
“There will be a monitoring period to guarantee that all those taking part are free of the virus. If they are all negative, there is no problem of distancing or contagion,” said Gravina.
“I hope that everyone will be able to play in their own stadium, if that is not possible we will find other solutions .It’s a complex moment for our country, for the economy and for football, which is one of the most important industries, we will find the right way“, he added.
The Italian press claims that both clubs Torino and Brescia denied resuming the league regardless of the decision made. They have made this decision based on the fact that Brescia has been the city to suffer the most throughout this pandemic since nearly 23,000 people were killed.
