If you’re stuck in town, then there’s a great possibility to end up spending your holiday with family. It can be scary sometimes especially when your in-laws are involved. Yes, it can be hard to adjust to a new family, lots of kids and the noise, but it’s not impossible. Check out our tips for surviving this Sham EL neseem:

Accept others Traditions and Share Your Own

Probably the hardest part about spending holidays with big family is the battle between different traditions. Everyone is used to certain routine and tries to apply it on everyone else.

Take it easy. Just go in with an open mind, try to embrace the new traditions. Why not bring along something that will make you feel at home. Get off your tail and offer help

If the celebration is taking place at somebody else’s place, offer a hand. It shows that you are well raised, plus it can also give you a break from all the noise happening in the living room. And if you are the host, allow others to help if they offer. It would look nicer than locking yourself in the kitchen and help people to come closer.

Plan the day with your partner. Talk to each other about your feelings towards the gathering before you go. Reach a decision together on how long you tend to stay, and what will be your excuse to leave. Agree to defend each other at any situation that may pop up. Remember, it’s only one day a year, please do your best to make it a great experience for you both and the whole family. Give a blind eye to anything that may ruin this sacred Egyptian day.
