Amidst the Coronavirus pandemic, doctors world wide have been struggling to find a cure or a means of containing the virus rather than spreading it. At first, we were told that medications such as Ibuprofen and Advil would help get rid of the virus for the time being, but we were later on informed that it does quite the opposite by aggravating and worsening the virus. We were then told that these medications are actually safe to take now, so people are confused about the does and don’ts.
After thorough research formed by scientists, it was found that Nuclear Energy plays a crucial role in combating this virus as well as allows doctors to detect with accuracy. Can you believe that?
The new technique that uses Nuclear Energy, or Nuclear Technology, is a diagnostic technique called Real Time Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction, RT-PCR.
This technology is normally used to determine gene and DNA repairing but has now been proved to clarify how the Coronavirus has been transmitted in the first place.
To ensure the reduction of the Coronavirus spreading, International Atomic Energy Agency will be providing personal protective equipment, laboratory consumables, and much more to countries that are in severe need of it and where the virus is spreading the most. This will hopefully ensure the safety of our citizens worldwide.
The agency’s role is not only to provide the tools and means to do so, but it is also to provide thorough and serious training in relation to the biosafety procedures so that people will learn how to use the Nuclear Energy efficiently .
So far, many countries are in need of this because some areas are incapable of controlling as well as containing the virus. Around 14 countries within continents such as Africa, Caribbean, Latin America, and Asia have requested assistance.
The first training course on detection and combating techniques will be held by the IAEA as well as Animal Production and Animal Health Laboratory in Austria within two weeks. Experts from several areas such as Vietnam, Mongolia, Madagascar, Cambodia,, Cote d’Ivoire are participating in this life changing experiment.
