How Egypt is Close to Banning Single-Use Plastic Bags

Egyptian Parliament Anissa Hassouna has submitted earlier a proposal to the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Environment suggesting the ban of using plastic bags in Egypt

Hasouna’s interest in replacing harmful plastic with eco-friendly ones was met with admiration, and environmentalists are welcoming the idea and encouraging it.

It was reported that Egypt uses around 12 billion plastic bags annually! Which not only is an economic strain but also an environmental crisis. The plastic ending up in water is causing severe problems to the Nile river and the seas, which thus affects the environmental tourism.

Hassouna also highlighted the effects of plastic bags being burned on the human health. As a substitute, the Parliamentarian suggests using paper bags or ones that are made from eco-friendly materials.

What gives us hope that this proposal can be further turned into a reality is that not long ago, Egypt’s Red Sea governor, General Ahmed Abdullah, decided to ban single-use or disposable plastics starting June after agreeing to the proposal submitted by Hepca.

Until then, here is how you can do your own share of good towards the environment with the help of the following Instagram pages.

SFS Recycling Team is a student based initiative, they collect recyclable wastes (paper, plastics and aluminium) and give out the proceeds to charity. Their contacts are available through their Instagram, all you have to do is call and they will take it from there.

6 Ways to Take Care of Your Mental Health

If you’re reading this article and you’re in a hurry to get back to work, finish an assignment or a task, then let me ask you a question, when was the last time you have given yourself a break?

The early twenties is the age where we start asking the most disturbing questions, am I moving slow? Is this where I want or should be? Am I doing this right? Worst of all is that we start comparing ourselves and our steps to others, thinking that way behind. But you’re not! You’re right where you should be and you’re doing great.

Life and work are likely to start stealing precious moments from you, so make sure that every now and then, you face it with some time for yourself. Simply, give yourself a break to renew your thoughts and recharge your energy to continue.

How? Here are things you could start with.

Literally take a break

Don’t be hesitant to ask for some time off if you ever feel like you have reached a breaking point, we’re humans and we too get drained of our energy. Ask for some time off to enjoy your hobbies or even enjoy the nothing, it doesn’t have to be a week or two, even a day would suffice.

Just make sure that on that day, you truly disconnect with the things causing you distress.

Choose Your Followings Carefully

Social media is the worst of all, it will leave you comparing your life with others and can sometime set the bar high for you. So start choosing your followings wisely and go for artists! Those who will actually inspire your life with their thoughts and touch your life with their art. You will find that their work actually reflects what you feel, and nothing feels better more than knowing you’re not alone.

Disconnect to Connect

Instead of texting someone about your feelings, go out with them for a cup of coffee and pour all of your thoughts on the table. Ask your old friend out, that will bring back old feelings of comfort and normality that you need. Just make sure that you’re surrounded with people who recharge your soul not drain it.

Eat Healthy

I know you would think that eating freely can boost your mood, but changing your eating habits to healthier ones can actually help make your lifestyle a better one and you will surely feel so much better about yourself and body.

Keep a Journal

Not necessarily a diary with detailed information about your day, just a journal to write in how productive your day was to remind yourself of the amazing work you have been doing.

Praising yourself is important!

Make the weekend all about you

Make it about you! Not work nor friends. Want to hang out? Fine, go out and have fun! Want to stay in and Netflix and chill? That’s fine too, do it! Better yet, want to pamper yourself with spa day? DO IT! Just do what makes YOU feel relaxed the most.

We will leave you with this last reminder: Your body and mind are your most valuable assets, cherish them and treat them gently in order to get through each day in a good shape.

Trust me, give your mind its deserved time to relax and it will thank you in ways you didn’t expect.

OBP companies claims that it has been specifically tested and found biodegradable in the oceans in France, the UK, and according to some American Standards for Plastics that Degrade in the Environment by a Combination of Oxidation and Biodegradation, But It is not compliant with European standard! As almost all materials ultimately may biodegrade even in the open environment excluding rocks and metals, though some will do so only after sometimes hundreds of years or more. Looking at biodegradation of plastics as a mean to avoid pollution hence only makes practical sense if this is linked to a “reasonable” time frame. That's why a wide range of scientists, international and governmental institutions, testing laboratories, trade associations of plastics manufacturers, recyclers and other experts have therefore come to the conclusion that oxo-degradable plastics are not suited for solving plastic littering, long-term use, recycling or composting. Special Thanks to Dr. Ragia and Egypt Ban Plastic Coalition members for their efforts to do this research. For References://

Starting your own business in the digital age is no longer a challenge, it might be hard at first to get your business kicking but social media platforms have certainly opened so many doors for your creativity and business to kick in!

We have talked before about the Facebook groups of women supporting one another emotionally, now Facebook groups are aiming at supporting the businesses of women whether small or big! It’s quite simple actually, have a talent hidden and a business to introduce? Share it with the rest of the group.

I make this‘ and ‘Today I did’ are both platforms for women to share their businesses on, in ‘Today I did’ you don’t have to own a huge business, you might be good with crafts and you might find members interested in your work so again, all you have to do is share with the rest.

Meanwhile, I make this group is a bit more professional as members do share their existent online businesses but the rules are quite simple and as follows:

1. Clear description of what you do.
2. Sample pictures of your work.
3. Clear Prices.
4. A link to your Facebook page/Instagram account.

So, if you’re an aspiring entrepreneur who’s afraid of taking risks, you can actually depend on these platforms for publicity and reaching your target audience.

Again, we’re quite impressed and proud to see women empowering each other and placing themselves on the road to success.
