Egypt’s to Build First Ever Monorail in Cairo

Ministry of Transportation announced that the construction of the first ever monorail system has began, which will link Cairo’s Nasr City to the New Administrative Capital.

According to reports from both Al Shorouk and Daily News Egypt, the completion of the project will take around 36 months and will cost about €3bn.

Another monorail system will also be inaugurated in which it will link 6th of October City to Giza. The project will be done with the Canadian company, Bombadier in partnership with Egypt’s Orascom Construction and Arab Contractors.

These monorails can travel at 80 km/hour and can hold up to 48,000 passengers as 300 of them are expected to be delivered to Egypt.

Scientists Bring Back The Voice of 3,000-year-old Egyptian Mummy

If the dead could talk, they would have a lot to say right? Well, for the mummy Nesyamun, it only had a few sounds to make! Thanks to scientists and technology, they were able to reproduce the voice of an ancient Egyptian priest and here is how it sounded…

 

An international and interdisciplinary team reproduced the voice of an ancient Egyptian priest by creating a 3D-printed replica of the mummified vocal tract.

The team led by David Howard, a professor of electronic engineering at Royal Holloway, were able to use a computed tomography (CT) scanning technology that measured the dimensions of the vocal tract of the mummy Nesyamun.

“He certainly can’t speak at the moment,” Howard told the New York Times.

“But I think it’s perfectly plausible to suggest that one day it will be possible to produce words that are as close as we can make them to what he would have sounded like.” He added.

First Egyptian Communication Satellite to Launch on November 22

Egypt will witness soon the launch of its very first communication satellite named Tiba 1, set to provide Egypt and some of the North African countries with internet services.

The launch of the satellite will take place on November 22nd and will be carried out by the French company, Arianne Space, from the city of Kourou in Guiana province, South America.

All safety measures and tests have verified the safety of the satellite system, and tanks have been filled with enough fuel to last for 15 years in the orbit site.

The Egyptian Governments is set to take control of the management of the satellite, once it’s launched and ready to provide communication services to governmental institutions.

The launch of the Egyptian satellite is considered to be a major technological leap for Egypt, as it represents a shift in the field of communication and information technology.

Tiba 1 satellite is the first out of the “TIBA Sat” series, which Egypt is planning on launching in the near future.
