Egypt to host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations

Published

It’s official! Earlier today in Dakar, President of the confederation of African football (Caf) Ahmad Ahmd, has announced that Egypt will host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, and Egyptians are more than thrilled and honored.

Egypt has won the bid against South Africa, the vote took place earlier at a Caf executive committee meeting.

Originally, Cameroon was the chosen nation to host the Cup, but it was stripped from the staging duties because of its delayed preparations, in addition to concerns regarding security issues.

That leaves Egypt with only six months to prepare for the event that will kick off in June, but it’s fair to say that Egypt has broad experience; as it hosted the tournament five times before this one.
