Damietta is known for its furniture industry and El-Sisi is looking to transform it into an integrated and specialized center in the industry!
President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi ordered to provide the city with all production materials and requirements from raw material including wood to modern equipment and machinery, with the aim of making the city an integrated center for the industry with an organized institutional framework.
According to a statement from Egypt’s Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady, Egypt is looking to not only meet the local needs but to also export to African countries.
This will provide several job opportunities and will also support the investment opportunities for Damietta.
This came during President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s meeting with Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, Sherif Ismail, Assistant President of the Republic for National and Strategic Projects, Mahmoud Shaarawi, Minister of Local Development, Nevin Gamea, Minister of Trade and Industry, Manal Awad Mikhael, Governor of Damietta, and Osama Abdel Moneim Saleh, Chairman of the Council Damietta Furniture Company management.
Rady added that the meeting covered the “developments in Damietta Furniture City, and the development of the furniture industry in Egypt.”
The meeting covered many aspects including the action plan set to be taken to develop the industry, as well as the current situation of Damietta. Moreover, the meeting looked at the city’s industrial zone, workshops and exhibitions.
The city is already the most-known in the industry, so imagine giving it a more advance production line, a clear plan and modernized international designs! This sounds pretty promising.
