A Double Tomb Discovered Today at the Pyramids
Egyptian Minister of Antiquities Khaled Anany announced the discovery of a double tomb that was uncovered earlier today at the Pyramids.
The double tomb dates back to the first half of the fifth dynasty (2563 – 2423 BC), and was discovered by Egyptian archaeological mission, headed by the General Secretary of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziri.
According to a statement from Anani during a press conference, the tomb was reused during the times of the 26th dynasty. While Waziri explained that the mission started back in August 2018.
450 cubic meters of sands had to be removed in order to unearth this discovery! Waziri also added that the uncovered tomb is located in the south-eastern area of the pyramids.
Archaeologist Zahi Hawass attended the press conference that was held after the discovery, ‘’ One of the two owners of the tomb is the priest of King Khafra, the whole world is watching this great discovery that dates back to the fifth dynasty’’ Hawass announced during the press conference.
It is indeed very impressive that we are yet unearthing more of Egypt’s legacy, according to Hawass, only 30% of discoveries are unveiled! And that Egypt contains an enormous number that is yet to be uncovered.
Some closed coffins were found inside the tombs, in addition to a number of archaeological finds belonging to the priest.
First Image for the Black Hole released
Astronomers have taken the very first image of a black hole, located in a distant galaxy of 40 billion KM, and astronomers have named it ‘A Monster’.
The black hole is 500 million trillion km away, the image was taken by a network of eight telescopes across the world.
Details have been published today in Astrophysical Journal Letters.
Prof Heino Falcke, of Radboud University in the Netherlands, who proposed the experiment, told BBC News that the black hole was found in a galaxy called M87.
“What we see is larger than the size of our entire Solar System,” he said.
“It has a mass 6.5 billion times that of the Sun. And it is one of the heaviest black holes that we think exists. It is an absolute monster, the heavyweight champion of black holes in the Universe.”
The image shows a ‘ring of fire’ as described by Prof Falcke, surrounding a perfectly circular dark hole. The bright halo is caused by super-heated gas. This light is brighter than all of the countless stars combined! That’s why it can be seen from afar distance from Earth.
The picture was revealed at simultaneous press conferences across the world today, including one in Europe that you can watch in the following video.
