Bugatti’s Newest Beast: The Divo

Published

on

It’s brutal in appearance, almost frighteningly fast and limited to just 40 examples, all of which have been pre-sold at a staggering €5 million apiece. That equates to about $8 million, plus taxes and options, making the new Bugatti Divo the world’s dearest production car by a considerable margin.

The sold-out model is armed with an eight-liter W16 engine, a Bugatti classic, capable of 1,500 PS. The Divo was designed for maximized aerodynamics: a modified chassis plays part in making the car 35 kilograms lighter than the standard Chiron with 90 kilograms more downforce.

The Divo is based on the Chiron coupe – a mere steal at €2.4 million ($4.3 million), ex factory. Anscheidt says the Chiron is technically challenging because there is so much componentry, including 10 radiators just below the surface plus in addition to the enormous eight-litre engine with quad turbos.

The Divo is not more powerful than the Chiron, just lighter and with more downforce. That will make it quicker around a race circuit, albeit at the expense of top speed (a mere 380km/h instead of 420). Anscheidt calls it “more beastly” than the Chiron.

Egypt is planning on producing the first locally assembled electric car in partnership with Chinese Dongfeng Motor Corporation and according to the country’s Minister of Public Business Sector, Hisham Tawfik, the car will be sold at EGP350,000.

During a phone interview with Amr Adeeb’s program “Al-Hekaya”, Tawfik said that the new car is the Chinese version of Nissan’s electric Leaf, adding that 45% of the car will be made with parts that are locally produced. The percentage is expected to reach 55% in two years.

El Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Co. will produce the cars, after being closed for 11 years! The company that has once produced 384,000 cars will re-operate once again. The line will revive El Nasr group after being suspended since 2009.

In 2008, the factory bought new machinery which is in a good shape and ready to manufacture the electric cars.

The vehicle is originally Japanese and can be driven for 400 kilometers per charge, with one charge saving LE3,000 per 10,000 kilometers.

It’s also worth mentioning that Egypt has the second largest automotive market in Africa, and the 42nd largest in the world.

The country has offered automotive companies several incentives to help establish assembly factories Egypt, including reducing or abolishing customs fees for imported parts and equipment.

Now as an environmentalist, would you substitute your car with an electric one?

If you’re an environmental looking to buy a sustainable car, stay put because as of next year, Egypt will start producing electric cars!

Minister of Public Enterprise Hisham Tawfik stated in a phone-in call on Sunday that Egypt is set to produce 25,000 electric cars starting next year, which will cost 300,000 per vehicle for consumers.

El Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Co. will produce the cars, after being closed for 11 years! The company that has once produced 384,000 cars will re-operate once again.

In 2008, the factory bought new machinery which is in a good shape and ready to manufacture the electric cars.

The vehicle is originally Japanese and can be driven for 400 kilometers per charge, with one charge saving LE3,000 per 10,000 kilometers.

Such vehicles will come in handy for those looking to save some cash. The minister expressed hope that taxi drivers will purchase half the production, in order to save money spent on maintenance.

Tawfik further explained that the brand was selected back in September and then after two months, the Chinese team visited Egypt for project’s preparations which came to a halt because of the pandemic.

But fortunately, three weeks ago the cooperation protocols were signed and in the next three months, feasibility and detailed studies will be completed as well.

So that by the end 2021, the car will hopefully be available for consumers.

Would you replace your car for an electric one?
